Request vs. Direct Booking
You set the booking mode per Resource Channel; under Settings → Process Settings of your Provider Calendar, you define the default for all newly created properties. This page explains how the two modes differ and when to use each one.
Two Booking Modes
| Mode | Description | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| Direct booking | Customer books immediately, appointment is confirmed | High efficiency, little coordination needed |
| Request | Customer sends a request, you confirm | More control, pre-qualify if needed |
In both modes, the selected time slot is reserved for three minutes while the customer enters their details – so no one else can book it in the meantime.
Direct Booking
With direct booking, the customer selects a time slot, clicks Book, and immediately receives a confirmation. The appointment is firmly booked and appears in your calendar.
Advantages
- Maximum efficiency: No manual confirmation required
- Fast conversion: Customer receives their appointment immediately
- 24/7 booking: Works outside of business hours as well
Appointment Requests
With appointment requests, the button is labeled Request. This lets the customer register interest in a time slot; until you accept the request, making the appointment binding, other prospects can request the same time slot. To learn how to accept or decline requests, or offer an alternative appointment, see Handling Appointment Requests.
Advantages
- More control: You decide which requests you accept
- Pre-qualification: Review the request before confirming
- Flexibility: Suggest alternative times if needed
Recommendation
Start with direct booking for maximum efficiency. Switch to requests if you need more control or the no-show rate is too high.
